What ABA Therapy Insurance Covers

Meet the team rooting for your child’s success.

Most insurance companies that cover ABA therapy include the initial assessment, weekly therapy hours, and ongoing BCBA supervision. The number of hours covered varies by plan, ranging from 10 to 40 hours per week, and is generally based on the individualized treatment plan. Our team will go through exactly what your policy includes before your child starts, so there are no surprises.

Will Insurance Cover ABA Therapy Without an Autism Diagnosis?

In most cases, insurance plans require a formal autism diagnosis before approving ABA therapy. If your child hasn’t been diagnosed yet, that’s okay. Getting a diagnosis is straightforward. We can provide one for you with an evaluation with our in-house clinical psychologist.

The Autism Scholarship Program

If insurance isn’t the right route for your family, there may be other options available depending on where you’re based. In Ohio, the Autism Scholarship Program is a state-funded alternative that redirects public school funding to approved ABA providers, and On Target ABA is one of them. Eligible families can access center-based ABA therapy at no out-of-pocket cost.

Don’t See Your Insurance?

If your insurance isn’t on the list, don’t give up. Applied behavior analysis insurance coverage can vary by plan, even within the same provider, and our team can check whether your specific policy qualifies. Give us a call. You might be closer to getting started than you think.
